Cape Verde

Cape Verde is undoubtedly Africa but European influences in the towns are unmistakable, in the architecture, language and even religion.

With astounding landscapes, the year-round warm climate and the most hypnotic music east of Havana, there is reason enough to visit this miniature Galápagos off the coast of Africa.

The archipelago and island country in the central Atlantic Ocean consists of ten volcanic islands. These islands lie between 600 and 850 kilometres off the coast of Sengal and form the westernmost point of Africa.

“Who shows you this way far?
Who shows you this way far?
This way to Sao Tome

Who shows you this way far?
Who shows you this way far?
This way to Sao Tome

Sodade
From this land of mine, St. Nicholas.”
Cesária Évora, singer-songwriter
