Malawi

Landlocked Malawi may be but the it does have an enormous lake. A body of fresh water stretching from almost Tanzania to almost Zimbabwe.

This indent in the earth’s crust is part of the same ‘fault’ as the Great Rift Valley up north and stretch all the way south to South Africa.

Clear waters for snorkelling, days of leisure on calm beaches and an opportunity to feel, smell and taste Africa.

Visited mostly by more experienced travellers, Lake Malawi can be combined with a safari in Zambia’s South and North Luangwa.

I go to Malawi twice a year. It’s where two of my children were adopted from, and I have a lot of projects there that I go and check up on and children who I look after. It’s sort of a commitment that I’ve made to this country and the hundreds of thousands of children there who have been orphaned by AIDS.”, Madonna Ciccone
